ACADIA: Mini Transat Prototype Hull #575
The Mini Transat 6.5 meter (21 feet) is designed primarily as a solo, offshore, transatlantic racer. There are both prototype and series boats. Prototypes permit the use of carbon in the hull and spars and allow water ballast and canting keels. Series boats are approved production designs that are made out of fiberglass, have aluminum spars and fixed keels. There are over 700 registered Minis with the international class.
The boats are designed to a "box rule." The rule gives maximum dimensions for length, beam, draft, height of the mast and also the amount of water ballast (prototypes) that can be carried on board.![]()
ACADIA was designed to take full advantage of the latest construction, material and equipment technology. Build quality meets or exceeds the designer’s exceptional standards, resulting in a stronger, lighter and stiffer boat with the highest performance capabilities.
